About: If there’s one thing Mare Barrow knows, it’s that she’s different.

Mare Barrow’s blood is red—the color of common folk—but her Silver ability, the power to control lightning, has turned her into a weapon that the royal court tries to control.

The crown calls her an impossibility, a fake, but as she makes her escape from Maven, the prince—the friend—who betrayed her, Mare uncovers something startling: she is not the only one of her kind.

Pursued by Maven, now a vindictive king, Mare sets out to find and recruit other Red-and-Silver fighters to join in the struggle against her oppressors.

But Mare finds herself on a deadly path, at risk of becoming exactly the kind of monster she is trying to defeat.

Will she shatter under the weight of the lives that are the cost of rebellion? Or have treachery and betrayal hardened her forever?
The electrifying next installment in the Red Queen series escalates the struggle between the growing rebel army and the blood-segregated world they’ve always known—and pits Mare against the darkness that has grown in her soul.

My review -- 5/5 stars!

If you didn't read Red Queen, here is my spoiler-free review.

If you didn't read Red Queen, I will warn you that this review will ruin the first book for you. But if you don't mind the spoilers then enjoy the review!

This book picks up right after the events that happened at the end of Red Queen. Mare, Cal and the Scarlet Guard are on the run from Maven. I think Red Queen has one of the biggest plot twists ever. No one really suspects that Maven would be the one to expose her and torture her. I always thought it would be the King. Regardless, the plot twist is what made the book more interesting and engaging to the readers.

Glass Sword. This book was far more believable and interesting than the last one. You don't really know what to expect as you turn the pages. It's like you just want to hurry through the book and know what's going to be happening as you keep reading. I absolutely loved that perspective that Aveyard puts in the reader's mind. This book is far more interesting, engaging and most importantly believable than the last one.

Character Development:  There were so many characters that were introduced in this book which made it far easier for readers to catch on. But there is one character that is trying to figure out the best  in situations and that character is Mare Barrow. She doesn't know how to use her powers to help people and is still trying to learn to embrace it. As the plot takes it place, she is also growing to be a better person.

Romance: There is not that much of romance found in this book. It's mainly focused on a mission that is far more important and has to be successful. That is what I really liked about it. Sure, there was some, like a trinket between Cal and Mare. But other than that, yes there was some. The love triangle that has the readers switching sides from book to book. But it's all worth it.

BTW, does anyone else think Farley is pregnant? Leave your thought in the comment below!

Setting: As in Red Queen, she does't really go anywhere other than just across the street. She mainly stays inside the castle and the events occur from there. But in this book, tuck yourself for a ride (literally). They move around in places to find the new bloods. New Bloods are people whose blood is Red but have the abilities of silvers. It's a mutation that is more explained in the book.

Plot: Some may say that the story line was confusing. But for me, it was't confusing at all. It's like a cycle. Mare and the scarlet guard find new bloods in different cities to help them rise to their power. So they travel to different cities, find them and help them. The one thing that made this book, are the surprises that Maven gave. You know just the usual. Sneaking up on them and slowly killing them. Or worst trapping them in their strengths, their own powers.

So expect a lot of betrayal from Maven.

Where to find this book?
