Nor has Feyre forgotten her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court. As Feyre navigates its dark web of politics, passion, and dazzling power, a greater evil looms—and she might be key to stopping it. But only if she can harness her harrowing gifts, heal her fractured soul, and decide how she wishes to shape her future—and the future of a world cleaved in two.

With more than a million copies sold of her beloved Throne of Glass series, Sarah J. Maas's masterful storytelling brings this second book in her seductive and action-packed series to new heights.

My Review -- 5/5 stars!

If you didn't read ACOTAR or have read it, here is my spoiler-free review!

Sarah has done it again by writing this spectacular piece. So because I loved it so much and I know many other people loved it I am going to do a spoiler and a non-spoiler review. I will write when the non-spoiler review is so those of who didn't read it won't be spoiled. You will be spoiled for ACOTAR.

Non-spoiler

After the first book, I was really excited ACOMAF. I didn't even wait to get a hard copy and got the e-book version and sped through it.

This book starts 3 months after the ending of the last book. Feyre is still the main character and it is only her perspective that is shown through this book. From the last book, Feyre was locked up in a prison kind of place called Under the Mountain. She was in complete darkness for about 3 months trying to save Tamlin. And as the book ends, readers can see that her emotional state is kind of shifting. I'm not going to say more.

Let's talk the setting and the plot. Well, she is back at the Spring Court with Tamlin and lives there, if that wasn't obvious enough ;) But the whole Spring Court is back. Tamil and Lucien's friends, associates, politicians etc. The change was so sudden that it caused excitement for readers but less for Feyre.

Now for the Characters. First and foremost, Feyre. As I said, she has been through a lot. She competed in the trails, died and was resurrected. So you may think that no one would emotionally be stable after all that. So was the case for Feyre. PTSD was brought in this novel and it was interesting to see the shift thought her character. Tamlin. After the last book, I loved him. He was like the angel. But not so much in this book. I'm not going to say much except that. New characters are brought in which I will go in more detail about in my spoiler review.

Spoiler

If you haven't read ACOMAF, you will be spoiled. So I suggest, leave now, read it and come back and chill with us.

Feyre. She's emotionally wrecked. After spending so long in Amarantha's jail, she starts showing signs and symptoms of PTSD. If you don't know what PTSD is, its ok I will tell you. It stands for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. This is a type where the patient has vivid dreams of what might have happened. For example, family death. Feyre had PTSD because of staying in darkness for a long while. In the book, she would wake up at night and vomit her guts up. She is shown to have no desire to live. Tamlin. Her 'lover' didn't even care about her. He was such a jerk in this book. He would totally ignore her feelings and only think for himself and his court. And...

HE LOCKS HER UP IN HIS HOUSE!!!

Like wtf. A message to Tamlin. Never lock up a girl up in your house. Especially when the girl has freaking PTSD. Like all you cared about about you and your court.

I'm sorry. I just have a lot of frustration with him. Let's talk other characters. Ianthe. She is introduced as a priest who came to help her for wedding. Yes, Tamlin proposes her. Big deal. Anyways, Ianthe. She was probably more excited about their marriage than the bride herself. And some people said that to them she was really suspicious. And yes she was. When she gave the King of Hybern the address to Feyre's sisters. She was a spy all along and no one suspected it.
Rhysand. He is the High Lord of the Night Court. He made a bargain with Feyre in the previous book that he would heal her infected arm if you agreed to spend one week of each month with him for the rest of her life. I probably not hated but disliked Rhys all together. But in this book, he is my favourite male character of all time. He wasn't at all what other people suspected. He is a kind person who is FEYRE'S MATE. He exceeded all the limits. I was so in love with him and the whole plot that came together.

Other Characters in Rhysand's court:
Morrigan or Mor: Cousin of Rhysand. True Illyrian. She does have parents who hate her. Third in Command.
Cassian: Commander or Genrel of Rhys's Army.
Azriel: Spymaster of Rhy's
Amren: Second in command to Rhys. She is something else that its not really fully explained.

I absolutely loved every single person in his court. The most that I loved was that Sarah put them in a way that cannot be ignored.

Setting: After the events of Tamlin locking Feyre up in the house, Rhys comes to the rescue. She says that she doesn't want to go back again. So he brings her to his city called Velaris. This is a city that he protected it from Amarantha when she took over. It's his home where he and his court resides in. Most part of this book takes part in Velaris.

Romance: Although this is a Fantasy book, Sarah definitely didn't leave out the romance. This book is a New Adult book where there are sex scenes in it. And not like some small scenes. No. Flirty, steamy descriptive scenes. I would suggest that this book is probably for 15+.

This book is basically about her learning to adapt to her new powers. If you don't remember when she died Rhysand talked to the seven High lords and asked them to save her life by giving a bit of their power to her. Tamil, the jerk that he was, just sat and cried over her dead body. After she came back to life and stuff, in this book, all Tamlin did was say no to her every wish. Whether it was simple or complex wishes. He told her that she doesn't need to learn about her powers and that she should stay inside all the time.

At the end: This book had a purpose. Amarantha was the King of Hybern's general. The King of Hybern wants to take over all over Prythian and the mortal world by destroying the wall that separates them. To stop him, Rhys and his court (including Feyre) have to find the Cauldron to nullify (decrease) its power. Let me just go on a rant here. When Tamlin and Lucien walked out from that room presenting themselves, I was really pissed. So many emotions. So basically, Tamlin guarantee a passage through his Court if he could get Feyre back. The excuse that he gave...because he 'loves' her. Honestly, who put this idiot in. Anyways, Feyre acted that she's going to go with him.

I actually cried when she said "Break the bond" that was between Rhys and Feyre. Like I actually cried. Like no, no, NOOO. But then later Rhys clarified that it wasn't the mating bond that was broken but rather the bargain. And I don't think that even that bargain was broken because he got it another tattooed in her hand.

Honestly, Rhys is just too pure for this world. This quote by him is probably my favourite:

"Not consort, not wife. Feyre is High Lady of the Night Court." My Equal in every way; she would wear my crown, sit on a throne beside mine. Never sidelined, never designated to breeding and parties and child-bearing. My Queen"

I don't think any boys like that even exist these days. Like where are those ones.

I was literally sobbing at the end. Maybe Sarah would become a kind High Lady and not shatter my should the next book. And also, maybe the High Lords of Bloomsbury would be kind enough to send me a copy of the next book, because I can't wait A YEAR!!!

I really ranted on in this post and I'm glad that my feelings are finally out in the open and done with. Sarah has masterfully portrayed this master piece that cannot be ignored and would highly recommend it to anyone.
