About (Goodreads): Held captive in the barbarian kingdom of Venda, Lia and Rafe have little chance of escape. Desperate to save Lia's life, her erstwhile assassin, Kaden, has told the Vendan Komizar that she has the gift, and the Komizar's interest in Lia is greater than anyone could have foreseen.

Meanwhile, nothing is straightforward: There's Rafe, who lied to Lia but has sacrificed his freedom to protect her; Kaden, who meant to assassinate her but has now saved her life; and the Vendans, whom Lia always believed to be savages. Now that she lives among them, however, she realizes that may be far from the truth. Wrestling with her upbringing, her gift, and her sense of self, Lia must make powerful choices that will affect her country... and her own destiny.

My Review -- 5/5 stars!

Recap of A Kiss of Deception:  Lia is a princess and is being married to a prince whom she has never seen. She runs away because she wants to marry for love and not for advantage. There are multiple perspectives in this book. The Prince goes after her because he doesn't want this either. On the other side, an Assassin is sent to kill Lia. Now, the prince and assassin change names. There is Kaden and Rafe. (I'm still in shock) Don't worry I'm not going to tell who's who. So basically, right in the middle of book, the assassin shows his true self and captures Lia. First half of the book is about her falling in love and the second half is her being a captive to the Assassin. She is taken back to the country called Venda. The book ends with her stepping inside of Venda's gates.

After I finished the first book, I was beyond excited to read the next book. So I started Researching about it. And It was a while. I think a couple of months. When I started reading other books I totally forgot the release date. And then the dramatic thing happens.

I stumble upon it in the library.

I snap chatted a picture of it to my friend, and she was like I want it. I'm like no not happening today.

On to the review! I have loved every single page that I read in this book. Even though it's been a while and I really need to refresh my memory about the book. All I can say is Beautiful. Mary has created such a world that when your reading it, the pictures connect itself together. The way she describes it is somehow magical.
The book starts where the first book left off. Lia is just entering the country of Venda. By now, we all know which is the Assassin and and which is the prince and I'm still in shock. I thought it was the opposite but then it wasn't and you know the breakdown happened. I did the stupid thing of googling who was who. But regardless of my mistakes, I love it.
This second book is everything. There are multiple perspectives shown in this book but there is always a secret hidden in every book. Keep reading, no spoilers! The Leader of Venda is introduced in this book. Komizar.
The second Lia steps in, the story continues taking twists and turns at every point. You know when your reading a book, and everything is going great in the story. But then a REALLY big thing happens in the book and you start contemplating on life? Yeah that happened to me. Just because of that one line. ONE SENTENCE. When I read it I was flipping through pages checking to see what I missed and where were the clues. No Kidding I actually went back a couple of chapters just to see what I missed.
Aster is a young girl who quickly becomes Lia's friend. People gawk at her because they have never seen a princess before. Most of this book takes place in Venda. She see's a lot horrific, and beautiful things that no one could have known actually is there.

At the end, I was even more in love with the series. Lastly, Mary E. Pearson like my tweets, and replied to them and I swear it was the best day.
